Catacombs used to be a speak-easy during Prohibition days, it’s not surprising to learn that it’s the proud owner of the first liquor license in Boulder. The bar is in the basement of the Hotel Boulderado and has a Happy Hour worth bragging about (think $1 domestics and well drinks and $2 microbrews from 4:30 p.m.-9 p.m.). There are seven cavernous rooms decorated with local photography, pool tables, and a clientele ranging from students to the seasoned goers lounging on couches. You can order burgers at the restaurant upstairs or punish your arteries with some finger-licking bar snacks like nachos and hot wings from the Happy Hour and late night menu.
