Eck's Saloon
Type: Bar
The Wild West lives on - sort of - in this "no balls, no glory" south Lakewood tavern. Don't let its strip mall appearance fool you from the outside; it's huge once you're through the door, with 9,000 square feet of pool tables, a dance floor and bar space to keep your evening lively. Ask the managers and they'll describe it like it is: loud, dingy, dark and kinda trashy. Cover bands take over the stage on weekends, and local acts of all genres have their turn on school nights. You'll never have trouble finding a TV to sip your beer by - they have more than 40.
User Reviews
In this economy it's hard to be able to find places with good food, entertainment, good ol' rock n' roll, and fun people all under one roof. Eck's meets all the criteria for us. The food is amazing and they don't skimp on portion size, thats for sure! They have a wide range of events that we love to participate in -- we're addicted to trivia. Thursday nights are always fun with the contests they have :D
Um, all I can say is wow. I move back to Denver a couple of months ago and finally got to go back to Ecks Saloon for the first time in years. All I can say is wow. How is that with the same owner, this place can have gone down hill so fast? The one positive note - the food is still great. For bar food, one of the best. Now the issues - 1 - the place is incredibly dirty. Have the cleaned the carpets or the bathrooms in the last couple of years? Just gross. You should never stick to the carpet in a place that sells food. 2 - service was horrible and slow. How can it take so long to get service with less than 100 people in a place that large? Really? And surly. Now that's a winning combination. 3 - troublemakers get to stay? I watched the bouncers try to escort an exceptionally drunk man that was pawing all over various girls. The manager stepped to say "No, he can stay. He's cool." Wow, nothing like look out for your customers. 4 - that deck. Talk about a major accident waiting to happen. Some minor repairs would do wonders. 5 - the deck again. What's with the trampy lingerie show out there? Sara's Hussy Hideaway? You actually have an employee running around, working, dressed like that? For a second there I thought I took a wrong turn and ended up at Paper Tiger. 6 - First time back in years and guess what?? Five 13 was still the band playing. I can understand having a house band, but the same one forever? You have to change it up. And these guys have not getting any better. If i had a recording of my last visit, I would even bet it was all the same sets. So it looks like my first trip back in years will be my last. When I want some rock and roll fun, I will be heading to Firehouse. Happy to be back in Denver, but that was like seeing an old on their final days.
I have been a loyal Ecks patron for many years. The food is fantastic and the cover bands are great. The staff is of course very good and if you go more than a few times, they will more than likely remember what you like to drink. They have great things to do before the bands. Trivia on tuesday and friday nights is great...and you can win bar cash. The owner, Bruno, is the best.....always looking to make his customers happy with new things.
